Transport Topics recently published an article on the surge in trucking cargo theft over the holiday season. The article cited CargoNet, who reported there were 185 total theft incidents reported from December 23rd through January 2nd and over $9.6 million in value lost.
For those who are unfamiliar with CargoNet, it is a national information-sharing system to combat cargo theft. Members come from a range of industries including insurance, law enforcement, transportation, manufacturing, retail, and others. The purpose of CargoNet is to share information and intelligence to prevent cargo theft.
