Women’s History Month celebrates women and all their contributions to society.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on women in the workplace.   

The 1870 US Census was the first to provide a snapshot of women in the workplace.  At that time, women composed 15% of the total workforce. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, women now comprise nearly half of the US labor force at 46.8%.

The Staffing industry has come a long way with gender equality. While it was once perceived as a more male-oriented industry, gender roles in staffing are now far more balanced and equal.

An analysis was done in 2020 showing large staffing firms at the median, women comprised 56% of internal staff, but 26% of executives and 16% of board members. The issue has been identified and strategies and initiatives for advancing women in the staffing industry are a priority amongst private and public staffing firms.
