Carrollton soon started developing from the construction of the railway lines. By 1888 the region had evolved into a shipping center for cotton, livestock, cottonseed, and grain. The city was incorporated in 1913 before becoming a key player in the gravel market. Carrollton has since managed to maintain growth.
